New Kurt MPW420 Pallet features 96 mm pull-stud spacing and push-button release
for rapid manual or robotic vise swaps.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2024 – Minneapolis, Minn. – Minneapolis-based Kurt Workholding has introduced a revolutionary new quick-release pallet for 5-Axis Workholding featuring a release using a single button press and easy mounting with industry-standard, 96 mm pull-stud spacing.
The new Kurt MPW420 Quick-Release Pallet is designed to be mounted on a machine table with two through bolts and then actuated with the press of a mechanical push button to remove or mount a 5-axis vise on the pallet in the machine. When the button is depressed by a robot or by using a small tool, the pull-studs are released. A vise with pull studs is automatically locked into place when pressed down onto the pallet. Once the Kurt MPW Pallet is mounted in the machine, it takes only seconds to mount or remove a vise, making setups or multi-vise operations a breeze. New Kurt PFW420, PFW440 and PFW460 5-axis vise models dock on the pallet using 4 pull studs with 96 mm spacing and offer top-quality design and construction for CNC workholding. Kurt PFW vises have 4-inch wide jaws and come in three sizes with openings between 2.625 and 6.625 inches. The 96 mm universal pull stud spacing also accommodates non-Kurt brand 5-axis vises.
“Our new vise and pallet options represent a shift in the way we’re thinking about product design and compatibility,” said Jeff Lenz, Executive Vice President, Proprietary Products, Kurt Manufacturing. “The new zero-point lineup allows customers to mix and match pallets and vises for quick setups and more flexibility. We’re also bringing 96 mm mounting to more traditional machining vises like the DX6 so that this system will work across multiple machine applications.”
The MPW420 button-release pallet is part of a range of new zero-point pallets Kurt is introducing at IMTS 2024. Designed as a comprehensive mounting system for the new wide-body 5-axis vise models, 4 additional pallet options are available including: 2 manual pallet sizes with a 96 mm pattern and 1 with a 52 mm pattern and 1 pneumatic pallet. The pneumatic pallet offers Kurt customers an automated zero-point mounting system that can be configured for remote control either by an operator or fully automated using a machine tool controller, robot, or PLC.
