New Kurt PFA620 Pneumatic Vise is shop-air actuated and setup for turn-key automation.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2024 – Minneapolis, Minn. – Minneapolis-based Kurt Workholding has introduced a revolutionary new air-actuated 5-Axis vise. Unlike any other pneumatic vise, the Kurt PFA620 allows manual full-stroke adjustment on parts of varying sizes combined with air opening and closing for solid and consistent part holding.
Designed to be versatile and user friendly, the PFA620 lets an operator quickly manually clamp a large or small part using the hex screw and handle, then open and close on parts with the ¼-inch pneumatic stroke. This time-saving design speed setups and changeovers while still allowing for the precision and power of pneumatic clamping.
“Our new vise and pallet options represent a shift in the way we’re thinking about product design and compatibility,” said Jeff Lenz, Executive Vice President, Proprietary Products, Kurt Manufacturing. “The new PFA620 Air Vise brings compact workholding automation to our 5-Axis lineup and fits in really well with the zero-point products we’re showing this year at IMTS.”
Based on the design of our popular RV36 Gripper, The PFA620 operates with an oversized diaphragm for maximum clamping force and smooth operation. The vise has quick-change 4-inch-wide jaws that snap on and off without tools and are available in dovetailed, serrated and machinable designs.
The new Kurt PFA620 can be mounted directly to a machine table with four through bolts. Setting up a semi-automated system operated remotely requires only shop air, a Kurt filter regulator lubricator unit, some tubing and a switch (all sold at kurtworkholding.com). Additional accessories can be added to create a fully automated setup using additional solenoids and a machine tool controller, robot, or PLC.
The PFA620 5-Axis Pneumatic Vise is part of a range of new 5-Axis products Kurt is introducing at IMTS 2024 including new wide-body 5-axis vise models and manual and pneumatic zero-point pallet with a 96 mm pull stud patterns and quick-release features.
